Gabriel Vach

The former half of the Whitefruits duo and later the founder of the Hidden Factory, Gabriel Vach has been devoted purely to porcelain for a long time. He uses it in his work for strength and poetic concepts that are always reflected in conventional objects such as plates, pots, and bowls. Objects in Poor Set, designed for Křehký in 2013, were made to resemble collected plates, tin pots and plastic bowls. But don't be confused by the names, the materials just refer to formal inspiration. Poor Set is completely decorated by selected illustrators and artists. The first used decorative motif of the set comes from the oldest Czech porcelain factory which is based in Slavkov, and it is no longer in existence. “No one knows the history as to who was the author of the motifs, where they came from, or how and what goods they were used for. We can only assume what it may have looked like. We can also only guess what some of the motifs actually represent and how people read them in the second half of the 19th century. Whether we like it or not we can only use our imagination and presumption, to complete the whole image.” Gabriel Vach.
