Klára Šumová

The objects designed by Klára Šumová often revolve around forest motifs which came from either her native region, which the poet Karel Hynek Mácha adored, or from Canada, where she spent some time during her studies. Her designs provide the interiors with basic materials, traditional crafts such as methods of processing, intimacy, poetry and an unmistakable atmosphere. All of these features can be found especially in the two objects designed by Klára – an inlaid breakfast table and a vase called Vědro (Wooden Pail), both designed for Křehký, the second of which is "a summer anagram about the function of a water container and a flowerpot, about the proximity of water and a flower, about traditions and their change during the context of time." Together with Michal Bačák she then created two miraculous collections of vases Our Flora and The Domestic Altar of St. Francis.
