The soup plate from the Poor Set, decorated with a red-blue motif of a deer and a mammoth by Michal Bačák, was created as a limited series for the 2019 Krehky Mikulov festival. This year’s subject was archaeology and Michal, moreover the author of illustrations for the archeopark in Velký Pavlov, realized two visual apocrypha on the plates, which beautifully develop the given subject. “Presenting the effort of the possible future epigones of the so-called Moravian archaeology serves me to show what had not served the turn to Karel Absolon (who started with speleological research in the caves of the Moravian Karst). I liberate the found artifacts from their archaeological canon, and replenish and re-compose a mosaic in order to reconstruct a different view of both the ordinary and festive life lived by our Paleolithic compatriots,” Bačák explains.
