“Objem, with its cheerful and elegant design, can animate any social event,” the Dutch designers Daphna Isaacs Burggreaf and Laurens Manders say about their carafe. Their main inspiration for creating it was the Czech word “objem” (volume), which appeared as soon as they tried to fill it with contents. The one-liter carafe is an example of a communicative object. It is not just an elegant item, which both perfectly suits a table and a shelf; its unusual, friendly shape also eases the communication among the people around the table. Although they do not know each other, they suddenly have a connecting line and a point from which they can depart. Is it a carafe, a vase or, perhaps, a statue of a bird, what do you think?
